[If things were ready to go for all of them, Six has a suspicion that they'd be having a lot easier time doing, well. All sorts of stuff. Her life would certainly be easier if she'd had food readily on hand. Or maybe it wouldn't have helped at all.]
[Either way, food? She's up for it. Literally, as a tiny figure in a raincoat that's maybe the height of a barbie doll struggles up onto the surface that Eimi is using to clean the fish. Even the figure's face can't properly be seen from underneath her enormous hood, but it's clear where her attention is.]
[She's so hungry right now, she'd totally eat fish raw.]
[Six is pretty sure that there is no greater problem than eating food and getting trapped in a literal rat cage, but she's willing to admit that Eimi has a point here. That doesn't stop her from pulling herself up, grunting with exertion, until she's standing on the fish preparing surface. A child's bare feet, no matter how tiny, probably aren't supposed to be here... no matter how unhygienic everything is to start with.]
[She is here for a good cause, however. Six hasn't spoken yet, and she doesn't plan to, but she does sweep out a hand towards what Eimi is doing with an almost eager lean forward. Being as tiny as she is, cleaning a fish might be a difficult endeavor for her... but she's willing to give it a shot.]
[Spoons are almost as big as Six is... but then again, so were keys, or toy monkeys. She accepts the tool with a huff and a grunt, needing a moment to adjust it so that she's holding it a little more near to the spoon part. It's not the most elegant look, but Six gave up looking elegant a long time ago.]
[She's a tiny thing in a raincoat with no shoes. Nothing about her says 'elegance' and she's accepted that.]
[With her grip a little more certain, she does her best to dig into the scales and drag the spoon the opposite way. It's a little too deep, and she pauses as she realizes she's digging up the actual fish along.]
[Ah. That makes sense. Six nods thoughtfully. She's just learning all sorts of things about food preparation today. Carefully pulling the spoon back and making sure to not slip on anything, she hugs the spoon tighter to herself and wobbles closer to where Eimi is working.]
[She'll watch a little more first, and hopefully get a better idea of it.]
[The answer is a simple point to her mouth, where she snaps down with her teeth. Six has only really helped with the end result... or avoided becoming the end result. The preparation is definitely a new one for her. Sure, she's technically gone in a kitchen where chefs were working... but Six had never really stopped to take in what The Chefs were doing. It hadn't seemed important at the time.]
[Shows what she knows.]
[Since it's clear that watching won't be much help, she goes back over to the fish she was given responsibility over, and carefully places the spoon against the scales again. This time, she keeps looking up over to Eimi as she gently presses down, keeping an eye out for when it might be too much.]
[Definitely not Six, at least. Now that she has a little more guidance and an idea of what to do, she feels a bit more confident as she begins to scrape the scales off. It'll take a little while, considering her size, but not impossible.]
[In the meanwhile, once she's gotten rid of a good chunk of scales, Six takes a moment to catch her breath and points over to Eimi. Six might not do it a lot, but clearly this woman is more than used to it.]
[And yet someone's gotta. Six at least prefers Eimi to the other chefs she knows.]
[Hastily, Six shakes her head at the question and seems to flounder for a moment. She's mostly just listened in on conversations, been talked tot. Actually.... Participating in one is more difficult than she was really considered. After a second, she gets back to descaling the fish while pondering over this.]
[Who knew words were so hard?]
[After a bit more descaling, she opens her mouth and tries to just... form a word, but it's like her mouth has forgotten what to do. All that comes out is a kind of clumsy rasp, a stutter of a noise from the back of her throat, and she frowns a little. Excuse her as she takes a moment to start shoving the scales out of the way.]
[A shake of her head... that soon transitions into a nod of her head. Maybe she'll have to stick with yes and no questions for now.... Work up to more complex stuff in a bit. Carefully putting down the spoon, she picks up a scale instead. Or, well, a couple of scales, whatever.]
Oh, okay! Well, you do have to descale both sides. Here, let me turn it over.
[She flips Six's fish over to the other side.]
And after you're done, you cut the bottom open, but you need to be very careful with that. If you end up cutting too deep, it could leak and contaminate the rest.

[Eimi keeps an eye on Six, even if this fish-cleaning isn't going great.]
Improperly-prepared food could cause you all kinds of problems.

[Eimi lays out some more newspaper (so that's why she grabbed that from the recycle) and sets down an entire raw fish. She offers Six a spoon.]
Start by using that to scrape the scales off. It is a little gross, but that's just how we clean a fish!

It must be difficult if you're so small, right? What do you normally do?

[She says while... cutting off the head of her own fish okay that's kind of gross but that's how fish??? no wonder nobody else wants to do this.]
