For me, it's more knowledge of the situation rather than my own abilities that are my personal concern. Once we know further, such as more about the world, our abilities, and so on, I imagine everything else will fall into place with time.
[He seems serenely confident in that statement, smile not once leaving his face as he converses with her.]
Perhaps you can find others with such combat experience. I imagine there must be at least a few here who have been recruited.
[Quite an interesting statement, one she lets the back of her mind parse for information as she nods.] I certainly can't deny the value of knowledge. Perhaps the main difference is that I face everything more confidently when I am confident in myself.
[Which she has been for quite a while now, making this new situation a very unusual one indeed. Her skills with weapons and fire both surpass most others', yet here and now they are not up to her standards.]
I agree, but until I tried, I did not know that. [Confident thought she might be in her ability, she intended to mind carefully the sin of overconfidence. Down that path lay unpleasant incidents and pain.] But I do wonder that they don't distinguish at all between those of us with experience and those without, in this training.
Perhaps in their eyes, we're all novices when it comes to the use of Semblances. That there may be similar methods of ability or power within our own worlds and existences may not be something that has occurred to them.
Or perhaps they simply don't have the resources and personnel to mind all of us if we're divided into so many separate groups, or for individual training. [Whiskey beams.] If that's the case, then it may be up to us on our own to figure out better ways of adjusting to this place.
Fair enough points. [Her shoulders lift slightly even as she crosses her wrists behind her, assuming her typical at-ease posture that has no ease in it at all except for someone who carries herself as tightly as she does.] We certainly have enough adjusting to do.
Ha ha, and yet it's a poison of our own choice to ingest.
[A morbid turn of phrase, and one that only seems to make him chuckle a little more.]
Perhaps we should take the time to see what else we can do with what we have. If there's no use for us in practicing here, our time is better spent at work, isn't it?
You sound as if you have something in mind. [She regards him thoughtfully and with patience, quite open to the suggestion despite her rather inflexible pose.]
Well, if we're not satisfied with our current situation, all we can do is go out and see things for ourselves.
[He gestures outside of their little training area, the gesture slight and smooth.]
For starters, if we're going to be here for any length of time, then we'll have to familiarize ourselves with the environment more. If the Grimm are really such a problem as they've told us, then there's even a chance that we might come across one while looking over our perimeter... and I imagine that would give you more of an opportunity to train than with a mere training dummy.
[He tilts his head to the side.]
If things go wrong, then I imagine there's a reason they felt secure enough in bringing us here over anywhere else.
Very reasonable propositions, though I'm not entirely certain that reason is one we can trust. After all, 'necessity' and 'desperation' are both very good potential reasons for their actions, and neither implies security.
[But such a thought doesn't bother her in the least. She is, if nothing else, confident in herself, and her own abilities seem well=suited to her.]
That may be argument enough that I, at least, ought to see what the situation is.
Ha ha. Well, you aren't incorrect in that view, either. For all that we are assisting this group in a matter of great importance, we still don't know a great deal about them.
[And knowledge is power, as he said... The sooner he knows about the Lunar Legion and what they're capable of, of what these artifacts they're looking for are capable of... Well, finding out the answer to such queries will ultimately benefit him in the long run, he's sure.]
[For now, he politely gestures towards the exit of their little training grounds.]
Shall we take a brief look around now, then? There's no better time than the present... as they say.
Certainly. [Stepping forward to make clear that she acquiesces no matter how he may answer her next question, she puts voice to said question.] May I inquire as to your Semblance? Should we encounter difficulty, knowing it would help guide my reactions.
I suppose that would be the polite thing to do, as well as sensible. [He's actually loathe to do it, although it doesn't show in the way he smiles.] I'd just rather not give a demonstration if possible.
It involves some amount of stripping, you see.
[Which isn't why he doesn't want to do it, exactly, but still.]

It seems rather wasted on a immobile opponent, in fact.

[Not really interested in playing that game, even were he willing.]
